WHITE COAT Italy Medical Immersion Italy

The program · 4 weeks · Florence, Italy

Three courses, one mentor, and documents that survive scrutiny.

70% academic, 20% guided hospital experiences, 10% one-to-one mentorship. Here is exactly what that means, course by course.

The three courses

University credit

Medical Italian

The language of the clinic: terminology, patient conversations, and the register Italian physicians actually use. Taught in small groups, graded, recorded on your Unicollege transcript.

Graded · On transcript · Syllabus available for credit review
University credit

The Italian Healthcare System

How a universal national health service works: structure, access, economics and everyday clinical culture - the comparative view U.S. committees love to probe in interviews.

Graded · On transcript · Syllabus available for credit review
Certificate course

Anatomy & Pharmacology Survey

A physician-taught survey with contact hours, assessment and a final grade. Issued as a university certificate with the full syllabus, so your home institution can evaluate it for transfer on its own terms.

Graded certificate · Full syllabus and contact hours · Credit transfer at your home institution's discretion
Why two labels? Language and healthcare-system courses sit inside our accredited university curriculum, so they carry university credit. The science survey is taught at university level by physicians and documented in full - but whether it transfers as credit is your home institution's call, and we will never pretend otherwise.

A typical week

Mornings in the classroom, hospital experiences as scheduled with the hosting institution, your mentor every week.

Mon

Medical Italian · Healthcare System lecture

Tue

Anatomy & Pharmacology survey · study session

Wed

Hospital experience, when scheduled by the hosting institution (small group, accompanied)

Thu

Medical Italian · Healthcare System seminar

Fri

Mentor meeting (one-to-one) · guided cultural program

Hospital hours, honestly. Guided hospital experiences total 8-12 hours per month, in the settings each hospital's medical direction authorises. If a partner hospital opens more, yours grow - but we promise the floor, not the ceiling.
Students during a break on the Florence campus
Between classes, on campus. The week is full - it is not packed.
